Job summary

The New Zealand Parliament invites applications for a senior Data Services role within the Research Services team. You will lead team projects, mentor colleagues and partner across Parliament to enhance how data, evidence and insight are used to inform decisions.

Innovation and continuous improvement are central to this role, including driving data visualization, automation and AI-enabled solutions while turning ideas into practical improvements.

Qualifications

• Curiosity, initiative and a passion for innovation, with the ability to work alongside the Research Lead to test new ideas, improve services and drive positive change.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor others, helping build capability, confidence and good practice.
• A collaborative and inclusive approach, with the ability to involve others, build on different perspectives and bring people with you through change.
• Experience working with data and evidence, including the ability to understand analytical work, ask constructive questions and communicate findings clearly.
• An understanding of research or analysis in a responsive service delivery environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Research Lead to identify opportunities for innovation and drive practical improvements in the team's services, tools and ways of working.
• Coach and mentor Data Insights Advisers to build capability, confidence and good practice.
• Build strong relationships across Parliament to access, understand and make effective use of data from a range of sources.
• Lead collaborative data and innovation projects from scoping through to delivery.
• Develop and promote practical tools, templates and reusable approaches for data analysis, visualisation and reporting.
• Support high-quality, consistent data products through collaboration, review and clear analytical and visual standards.
