Job summary

Serko Ltd. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to shape and scale a modern data platform in New Zealand. In this high-impact role you’ll influence ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and data quality to deliver reliable and secure data solutions across the business.

You will work with architects and engineers to design scalable pipelines, build data models, and manage cloud data warehouses using Snowflake and BigQuery. A strong focus on governance, security and collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong background in data engineering and modern data platform design.
• Experience with Snowflake data warehouses and cloud data services.
• Proficiency in SQL and dbt for modeling, with Python scripting in data workflows.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and agile development environment.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, resilient data solutions with a small cross-functional team.
• Build and optimise batch and streaming data pipelines across platforms.
• Collaborate with Platform, Architecture and Security teams for performance and data governance.
• Develop robust data models and orchestrate workflows in dbt and cloud tools.
• Maintain and evolve data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery) and ensure data quality.
• Enable secure, observable data platforms with clear documentation and governance.
