Job summary

Serko is expanding its data capabilities in Auckland, seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and scale our modern data platform. You’ll work across ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and data quality to deliver reliable, secure data solutions that empower business teams.

You’ll collaborate with Architects and Engineers to build scalable pipelines, models, and data warehouses using dbt, SQL, Python, and cloud services while upholding governance and security standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in data engineering or related field.
• Strong SQL and Python experience.
• Hands-on with Snowflake and cloud data platforms.
• Experience with dbt and data orchestration.
• Knowledge of data governance and metadata management.
• Ability to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable data pipelines for batch and streaming workloads.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to shape data solutions.
• Develop data models and manage data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Ensure data quality, security, and observability.
• Write clean code in SQL, Python, and PowerShell.
• Support data products across the business.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
