Job summary

Westpac New Zealand is seeking an experienced mainframe specialist with COBOL, DB2, and JCL expertise to support the bank's core systems. You will analyse, develop, and maintain high-quality applications while mentoring peers and leading initiatives.

The role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and Agile delivery experience, with after-hours support as needed. You will work in Auckland, contributing to secure, scalable IT solutions in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years IBM mainframe experience using COBOL, Easytrieve, DB2, VSAM, JCL, Endevor, Expeditor, SAS.
• Demonstrated experience of complex analysis, assessment, and delivery of appropriate recommendations.
• Incident/problem management skills including afterhours and on-call support.

Responsibilities

• Analyse, develop, and maintain high-quality mainframe applications.
• Provide mentorship and leadership within the team.
• Cover development, unit, system testing, and implementation of software solutions.
• Engage in incident/problem management and root-cause analysis.
