Job summary

The University of Auckland is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the planning and shaping of major capital projects across teaching, research and student environments. You will guide projects from feasibility through governance, engaging with academics, service divisions, consultants and external partners to deliver high-quality campus environments.

Based in Auckland, you will manage budgets, risks and procurement, while focusing on early project delivery and design leadership to achieve

Qualifications

• Extensive experience establishing and leading major capital projects or programmes in complex environments.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and governance structures.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead feasibility, business case development, planning, design and procurement phases.
• Manage consultant teams and governance processes ensuring effective decisions.
• Develop business cases, project briefs and strategic recommendations for investment decisions.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across faculties, service divisions, consultants and external partners.
• Manage project budgets, risks, programmes and approvals to ensure delivery outcomes.
• Support construction delivery, commissioning and handover activities as required.
