Job summary

Xe is hiring a senior backend engineer to own end-to-end backend problems, shaping API design, data modeling, and production services for a cross-border payments platform. You will move money in production, design the backend stack, and lead delivery of new capabilities as Xe rebuilds its platform layer.

You’ll work in a small team with product, compliance, and operations, own architecture, mentor engineers, and use AI-powered coding tools daily across the SDLC.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production backend services
• Experience with backend in C#/.NET and at least one other language is a plus
• Proficiency with relational databases and SQL
• Hands-on AWS experience including deployment and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
• Exposure to regulated industries like payments is desirable
• Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities

Responsibilities

• Design and own backend services that move money and manage multi-currency balances
• Lead cross-functional delivery with product, compliance, and operations
• Oversee partner integrations and settlement infrastructure
• Own production health, reliability, observability, on-call, and incident response
• Lead design reviews and set technical direction for your domain
• Mentor mid-level engineers and collaborate with architects on cross-domain decisions
