Job summary

Supaglu Pty Ltd in Auckland seeks an experienced Backend Engineer to own the server architecture for game systems, designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable solutions using Golang, PHP, and Linux environments.

You will work with MySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis/Memcached, and Docker/Kubernetes to build high-performance microservices while collaborating with designers, PMs, and frontend developers to ensure gameplay needs are met.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development experience in fast-paced game/product environments.
• Golang expertise with PHP proficiency and Linux comfort.
• Strong API design, microservices architecture, and backend system knowledge.
• Experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis/Memcached, Docker/Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize high-performance backend architectures and microservices.
• Develop new features in Golang while maintaining legacy PHP systems.
• Manage databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching (Redis/Memcached).
• Leverage Docker and Kubernetes for deployment and orchestration in Linux.
• Translate complex game requirements into reliable technical specs.
• Collaborate with designers, PMs, and frontend developers to align backend with gameplay needs.
