Job summary

AllRecruits is seeking a Senior Automation Systems Engineer in Christchurch with 5+ years in PLC/HMI/SCADA programming. You will lead client projects in dairy/food manufacturing, guiding internal teams and acting as the local point person on site.

You will drive process improvements through automation, and manage design, development, commissioning and maintenance of systems across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience delivering PLC/HMI/SCADA projects.
• Degree in Mechatronics or related field preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and client-facing ability.

Job description

We are currently seeking a Senior Automation Systems Engineer with 5+ years of experience programming in PLC / HMI / and SCADA to work on systems integration projects for a growing company that is one of the leading automation companies in New Zealand. This person will be the senior engineer leading client projects developing solutions for the dairy and food manufacturing industry. This person will be the local client's point person and lead the internal teams developing solutions for the various local projects.

This person must be passionate about the development and implementation of process improvements through the use of PLCs, HMIs and SCADA.

You will need to have demonstrated ability to lead projects and systems integration across functional teams in the design, development, and deployment of manufacturing and process automation solutions.

The person must be fully conversant with a range of electrical procedures in the field of factory automation - design, programming, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, research and development.

Programming skills (PLC / HMI / SCADA) of 5+ years experience required with a variety of PLCs such as:

• Rockwell - Allen-Bradley; ControlLogix / CompactLogix / MicroLogix / SLC series

Experience with designing and programming SCADA system:

• CITECT SCADA
• SCADA Platforms - InTouch, IFIX

Experience

1. A degree with Mechatronics courses or related field OR
2. 5+ years experience as a full-time Automation Engineer delivering projects that required both PLC, HMI and SCADA programming.
3. Experience with Allen-Bradley is a must.
4. Excellent communication skills
5. Ability to learn fast.
6. Ability to build key relationships with personnel on client sites.
