Job summary

WSP in New Zealand is seeking a Senior or Principal Engineer to lead asset and network performance work in transportation/roading. This role sits within the Paeroa Civil Infrastructure team, delivering strategic guidance and technical leadership on roading asset management.

The position involves embedded client work in the Thames-Coromandel region, providing expert advice, robust technical solutions and practical project delivery to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline.
• 8–10 years in a comparable civil engineering role with asset management and network performance experience.
• Experience in project management, client engagement and business development.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status or progress towards accreditation.
• Local government and NZTA experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of asset management, asset information management and data analytics techniques.
• Commercial awareness to manage scope, programme, risk and financial performance.
• Clear communication, sound judgment and collaborative, client-centred approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic asset management and network performance consultancy across transportation projects.
• Deliver asset information management advice, data analytics and deliverables.
• Apply asset management standards, legislation, codes of practice and NZ Standards.
• Undertake technical reviews and verification, developing practical solutions for clients.
• Lead delivery of asset management projects, managing scope, programme, budget, quality and risk.
• Provide leadership across multidisciplinary teams, coordinating resources and monitoring performance.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders to grow asset management services.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists to deliver client-focused outcomes.
