Job summary

Franklin Smith in New Zealand is seeking experienced Asphalt Plant Operators to support road construction projects across the region. You will work with the Foreman, operate Class 2 machinery and asphalt plant equipment, and ensure correct setup, material flow and compaction. The role offers a minimum of 30 hours per week, with potential up to 70 hours.

Pay ranges from NZ$28.00 to NZ$35.00 per hour. You may be required to travel to other regions for projects, with relocation assistance provided

Qualifications

• NZ citizen or resident with at least 3 years full-time asphalt plant operation experience.
• Valid Class 2 driver license.
• Must pass police check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Work with Foreman and Leading Hand to ensure safety and on-schedule completion.
• Operate Class 2 machinery and asphalt plant equipment.
• Set up and align asphalt pavers; manage material flow and compaction.
• Assist with screeds, widths, and levels; monitor mat quality during paving.
• Coordinate with truck drivers and crew for steady asphalt supply.
• Perform pre-start checks and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe worksite; may operate other civil machines.
