Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Android developer in Auckland to design, build, test, and maintain mobile apps within an agile team. You will craft reusable, testable code using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, integrate AI where appropriate, and contribute to DevOps practices for CI/CD and deployment automation.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensure high quality in UI testing, and help drive best practices across architecture and SDLC documentation.

Qualifications

• Solid experience developing mobile apps within agile teams.
• Proven product development skills and Android development experience.
• 5+ years building mobile apps with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Android Studio.
• Experience with modern Android development concepts.
• Experience building and maintaining apps with a large user base.
• Experience building reusable and testable code.
• Experience with unit and UI testing, code reviews, and debugging.
• Experience with software architecture and design principles.
• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, and deployment automation.
• Familiarity with app deployment using Google Play Console and Firebase App Distribution.
• Ability to integrate AI effectively into engineering workflows and coach others on responsible AI practices.
• Good business experience and knowledge across several industries.
• Excellent communication, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn and adopt new technologies quickly.

Responsibilities

• Understand business requirements for application or platform features and components.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications and integration solutions.
• Develop clear, maintainable code focused on usability, performance, and security.
• Apply development frameworks, good practices, and established design patterns.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to design and deliver customer outcomes.
• Work with QA teams to design and run functional tests.
• Work with Business Analysts to resolve functional requirement and design gaps or ambiguities.
• Troubleshoot and promptly resolve technical issues, including after-hours support when required.
• Create and maintain SDLC documentation for transparency and knowledge sharing.
• Analyse recurring issues and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Refine support procedures to minimise downtime.
• Ensure compliance with governance standards.
