Job summary

Datacom is seeking an Android Developer (Contract) to own core mobile app code, collaborating with domain teams to meet business requirements. You will design, develop, test and maintain apps, using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Android Studio in an agile environment, with a focus on maintainable, secure, and high-quality code.

The role demands strong communication, experience with modular architectures, CI/CD, and familiarity with Google Play Console and Firebase App Distribution.

Qualifications

• Experience developing mobile apps in an agile environment.
• 5+ years of Android development experience.
• Proficiency with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Android Studio.
• Experience with modularization is an added advantage.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain apps and integrations.
• Develop code in a clear and maintainable way with a focus on ease of use, performance and security.
• Be familiar with development frameworks and good practices.
• Use established and common design patterns.
• Work with the delivery team to design and deliver customer outcomes.
• Work with QA team to design and run functional tests.
• Work with the Business Analyst to resolve gaps or ambiguities in the functional requirements and design.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly, including participating in after-hours support when required.
• Create and maintain documentation throughout the SDLC to support transparency and knowledge sharing.
• Analyse recurring issues, lead continuous improvement initiatives and refine support procedures to minimise downtime.
• Ensure compliance with governance standards.
