Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 16th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Bring your financial system expertise to a Senior Analyst role in our Financial Stability Group, supporting high-quality supervision, analysis, and advice that helps strengthen Te Pūtea Matua's impact.

Join our collaborative and supportive FMI Supervision team within the Specialist Supervision Directorate.

Contribute to prudential supervision, risk assessment, stakeholder engagement, and analysis that informs decisions across RBNZ.

Permanent, Wellington or Auckland based role

Te tūranga – The role and your impact

Help safeguard the systems that underpin New Zealand's financial markets. In this role, you'll join the team supervising financial market infrastructures (FMIs) — the critical systems that settle and record payments and securities. You'll engage directly with systemically important FMI with a focus on securities clearing and settlement. You'll apply the Financial Market Infrastructures Act 2021 and FMI standards, lead analytical reviews, and test how well these organisations are managing resilience, governance and strategic risks. You'll also work closely with the Financial Markets Authority as joint supervisor of FMI, and help shape policy thinking within the RBNZ as technology, products, cyber risks and geopolitical pressures continue to evolve.

We're looking for a collaborative Senior Analyst who brings strong judgement, high-quality analysis and research capability, and the confidence to communicate complex information clearly. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Ability to assess prudential risk profiles, make sound judgements, and produce high-quality written analysis and advice for decision making by managers and senior leaders.
  • Experience using frameworks and procedures to assess risks, develop options, and recommend preferred approaches.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, trading or payments, and/or experience in supervision, regulatory, financial system or developing qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • A strong delivery focus, with the ability to manage priorities, meet agreed timeframes and ensure outputs achieve the desired results.
  • Confidence engaging constructively with regulated entities, including at management, executive and board level.
  • A collaborative, one-team mindset, with the ability to build effective relationships internally and with the Financial Markets Authority who is our joint regulator.
  • A commitment to RBNZ's values, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Ao Māori, diversity, equity and inclusion, and creating a safe and healthy workplace.
