Job summary

BDO in Auckland is seeking a Senior Analyst and/or Manager to join our Business Restructuring & Forensics team. You’ll work across restructuring, corporate advisory and forensic engagements, collaborating with Managers and Partners to deliver practical insights and help clients navigate time-critical situations.

This broad role offers development across multiple advisory disciplines, with exposure to senior stakeholders and a focus on delivering commercially-driven outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years’ experience in restructuring or related advisory field.
  • CA, CFA or equivalent qualification (or working towards).
  • Big 4 or professional services background preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and financial modelling.
  • Excellent written reports and client-ready analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support restructuring and turnaround engagements with practical input.
  • Prepare and review financial models, cash flows and forecasts.

Additionally, we work closely with the Deal Advisory team and you will have the opportunity to work on their engagements. About the role

We are looking for a Senior Analyst and/or Manager to join our Business Restructuring & Forensics team in Auckland.

This is a broad, high-impact role where you’ll gain exposure across restructuring, corporate advisory and forensic engagements. You’ll work closely with Managers and Partners to deliver commercially focused insights and help clients navigate complex, and often time-critical, situations.

This role will suit someone who is looking for variety and development across multiple advisory disciplines, rather than specialising too early in their career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support restructuring and turnaround engagements, providing practical, solution-focused input in distressed or special situations
  • Assist with Independent Business Reviews (IBRs) and Deal Advisory engagements.
  • Prepare and review financial models, cash flows, budgets and forecasts to support decision-making and stakeholder reporting
  • Contribute to accelerated M&A activity.
  • Assist with formal insolvency appointments, including Receiverships, Voluntary Administrations, Liquidations and creditor compromises
  • Support forensic investigations and litigation support engagements, including analysis, documentation and reporting
  • Interpret complex financial information and contribute to clear, concise reports for clients, creditors and stakeholders
  • Apply relevant accounting standards, legislation and case law across engagements
  • Support due diligence, industry research and ad hoc advisory projects

Experience & Attributes
  • 3–7 years’ experience in restructuring, corporate finance, due diligence, transaction services, forensics or a related advisory field
  • CA, CFA or equivalent qualification (or working towards)
  • Background in a Big 4 or professional services environment is highly regarded
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling capability, with advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent written skills with experience preparing reports or delivering structured analysis
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to engage with a range of stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented, methodical and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Commercially aware with a logical, solutions-focused mindset
  • High level of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
