Job summary

BDO Auckland seeks an experienced BAS Manager to lead business advisory engagements, providing strategic accounting and tax guidance while mentoring a team of advisors. You will manage client engagements, identify growth opportunities and deliver practical solutions in collaboration with Partners.

Qualifications

• Ideally 5+ years of business advisory experience in a CA environment.
• Accounting background or working towards CA qualification.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong technical and analytical skills.
• Strong written and oral skills in both English and Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to identify business issues, develop strategic plans and implement solutions for sustainable growth.
• Draft accurate and technically correct advice on accounting standards, tax compliance and business management principles.
• Analyse and interpret client financial reports and management accounts to provide actionable insights.
• Advise on tax-effective strategies including trust income distribution, group structures, FBT, GST, PAYE, and indirect taxes.
• Supervise medium to large jobs through to review stage and conduct final reviews for small to medium engagements.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and elevate complex issues appropriately for resolution.
• Communicate complex concepts and solutions clearly and effectively to clients in both verbal and written formats.
• Motivate, mentor, and develop team members to foster a high-performance culture within BAS.

About the role

As a BAS Manager, you'll play a key leadership role within our Business Advisory team, partnering with clients to identify opportunities, solve business challenges and support long-term success. You will be responsible for managing client engagements, providing strategic accounting and tax advice, reviewing complex work and leading a talented team of advisors and accountants.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Business Advisory professional looking to further develop their advisory capabilities, strengthen client relationships and contribute to the growth and success of both clients and the wider team. You'll work closely with Partners while enjoying the autonomy to manage engagements and drive outcomes for your clients.

Key Responsibilities
