Job summary

Ag Assist in New Zealand is seeking an experienced senior software engineer to design, build and ship AI-native software across our Marketplace, Operating System and Workforce platforms. You will own complex work from problem definition to live production, provide technical leadership, and collaborate across frontend, backend, cloud services and data stores in a fast-moving startup.

Key skills include TypeScript/JavaScript (React/Node.js), automated testing, CI/CD, security and multi-tenant data

Qualifications

8+ years of professional software engineering experience with full-stack delivery
Strong TypeScript/JavaScript and modern web development experience (React/Node.js)
Hands-on experience with automated testing, CI/CD, production monitoring and incident investigation
Security focus: authentication, authorisation and multi-tenant data boundaries
Experience influencing architecture and guiding engineers while delivering as a high-output IC
Proven use of coding agents or AI-assisted engineering at scale
Comfort in startup environments with changing priorities and ownership
Ability to challenge product/leadership decisions when engineering risk or quality requires it

Responsibilities

Design, build, test and release production software across multiple platforms (Marketplace, OS, Workforce)
Own difficult work from problem definition to live production behaviour
Collaborate across frontend, backend, APIs, cloud services and data stores
Investigate defects, performance issues and production failures and fix root causes
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to teammates
Lead engineering discussions, review patterns and ensure delivery against outcomes
