Job summary

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is seeking a Senior Advisor Planning and Performance to join the Planning, Performance & Improvement function within the Driving Regulation system. You will help leaders translate strategic priorities into coordinated work plans, provide practical advice on priorities and risks, and support decision-making across multiple teams to improve regulatory outcomes.

You will work with operational teams and stakeholders to clarify priorities, strengthen delivery

Qualifications

• Experience providing high-quality advice in regulatory/government settings.
• Strong planning and prioritisation skills to turn priorities into practical work plans.
• Experience coordinating work across multiple teams or programmes.
• Ability to assess competing priorities, risks and trade-offs and provide clear recommendations.
• Ability to support leaders to make decisions and maintain delivery momentum.
• Strong relationship and facilitation skills to work across boundaries.
• Clear written and verbal communication for governance material.
• Ability to interpret performance information to inform advice and action.

Responsibilities

• Translate strategic priorities into clear, coordinated work plans for delivery.
• Provide practical advice on priorities, sequencing and risks to support decisions.
• Coordinate planning and workflow across teams to maintain focus on key work.
• Prepare briefing notes, recommendations and governance material for leaders and committees.
• Bring people and information together to resolve issues and support joined-up delivery.
• Monitor progress against plans and identify points for reprioritisation or intervention.
• Facilitate planning discussions that lead to clear decisions and accountable actions.
• Improve planning tools and processes to support delivery.
• Support governance, committee, Ministerial and reporting requirements.
