Job summary

NZ Transport Agency (Waka Kotahi) invites applications for a Senior Advisor Planning and Performance within the Driving Regulation system. You'll help leaders translate strategic and regulatory priorities into clear, coordinated work plans, balancing delivery, risk and emerging issues, and providing practical advice to enable timely decisions.

You will work with operational teams and governance groups to maintain focus, improve planning tools, and support reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience providing high-quality advisory in regulatory/government contexts.
• Strong planning and prioritisation skills to translate priorities into work plans.
• Experience coordinating work across multiple teams and programmes.
• Ability to assess risks, dependencies and trade-offs with clear recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for briefs and governance material.
• Experience interpreting performance information to inform planning.

Responsibilities

• Translate strategic and regulatory priorities into clear, coordinated work plans.
• Provide practical advice on priorities, sequencing, dependencies, risks and trade-offs to support decision-making.
• Coordinate planning and workflow across teams, helping maintain focus on the most important work.
• Prepare advice, briefings and recommendations for leaders and governance groups.
• Bring people and information together across teams to resolve issues and support joined-up delivery.
• Monitor progress against plans and identify where decisions or reprioritisation may be needed.
• Facilitate planning and prioritisation discussions leading to clear decisions and actions.
• Improve planning tools and processes to support delivery and easy application.
