Job summary

BARNARDOs Aotearoa is seeking an Administrator in Gisborne to support a multi-disciplinary team with strong attention to detail and effective administration systems. The role requires flexibility, teamwork, and good relationship-building across the organisation.

Experience in administrative tasks, recruitment and payroll support, and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel) are essential. This is a 6-month fixed-term, 38 hours per week, based in Gisborne.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an administrative role (ideally in the not-for-profit sector).
  • Proven planning and organisation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and supporting recruitment/payroll processes.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office products, including Excel.

  • Provide administrative support to a multi-disciplinary team and maintain efficient admin systems.
  • Assist with recruitment and payroll tasks and contractor management.
  • Foster strong relationships across the team onsite and within the organisation.

About the Role
We are looking for an Administrator with a customer focus who is results driven and enjoys working in a team environment. The position plays a key role in supporting a multi-disciplinary team ensuring effective administration systems and practices are implemented and maintained.

Excellent communication and organisation skills are crucial to this role. You’ll also need to be flexible and have the ability to build strong relationships across the team both onsite and across the wider organisation.

You will need to be comfortable working with the Microsoft Office suite. The role also supports the management of contractors and supports the operational leaders with tasks relating to recruitment and payroll.

This is a 6-month fixed-term position (38 hours per week), based in Gisborne.

Skills and experience
You will be a well‑organised and efficient Administrator excited about making a difference for rangatahi. To undertake this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in an administrative role (ideally in the not-for-profit sector)
  • Proven planning and organisation skills
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Great communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience in the co‑ordination and management of contractors
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office products, including Excel
