Job summary

Barnardos Aotearoa is expanding with a new permanent full-time role based in the Hutt Valley. You will work with students, families/whānau to engage them in the Intensive Wraparound Service and support the IWS team to develop and monitor plans.

The role requires a tertiary qualification in social work or equivalent, strong collaboration across education and social services, and willingness to travel across Wellington region.

Intensive Wraparound Service Facilitator

Due to recent expansion, we have a new opportunity in our Intensive Wraparound Service.

Barnardos and the Ministry of Education (MOE) deliver the Intensive Wraparound Service (IWS) which works with students who have complex behavioural needs. You will be working with the student and family/whānau to engage them in the IWS process and support them and the IWS team to develop and monitor plans.

This is a permanent full-time position (40 hours per week, Mon - Fri).

This role is based in the Hutt Valley and will require travel around Wellington, including at times the wider Lower North region.

This role can be challenging but is also extremely rewarding and is a vital part of our work to make Aotearoa a better, safer, happier place for tamariki.

Your Role:

• To orient the students and family/ whānau to the wraparound process and provide co-ordination of key team members.
• Support the development of a plan with agreed outcomes for the family/whānau, and to monitor and record the progress of these outcomes.
• Develop and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with the family/ whānau, Ministry of Education Learning Support and other groups to ensure a coordinated wraparound service.
• Produce timely and accurate documentation to support the Intensive Wraparound Services

What You'll Bring:

• A tertiary qualification in social work or other relevant qualification.
• Proven experience working with children, families/whānau and Māori and Pacific communities.

• The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication, organisation and meeting facilitation skills.
• The ability to build strong professional relationships and champion the perspective of the student and their family through the IWS process.
• Resilience and a clear understanding of your own self-care needs and when to practice them.
• A clean, full NZ driver’s licence (travel across the region will be required).
