Job summary

Downer in Marton and Taihape is seeking a reliable Tractor - Mower Operator / Pilot Support Driver to support roadside vegetation maintenance across the Rangitīkei District. This fixed-term seasonal role runs from October through April.

You will operate a tractor and mower, drive a tail pilot Ute, help keep crews and road users safe, and support with litter collection and edging posts. A Class 1 driver's licence and comfort working outdoors are essential.

Qualifications

• A full Class 1 Driver Licence.
• Experience operating agricultural or rural equipment (preferred).
• A strong commitment to health and safety.
• Good physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions.
• Reliability and a strong work ethic.
• Flexibility to assist with call-outs and seasonal work as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a tractor / mower to control roadside vegetation.
• Drive a tail pilot Ute behind mowing operations to provide advance warning to road users.
• Help ensure the safety of crews and the travelling public.
• Assist with roadside maintenance activities including litter collection and edge marker post replacement.
• Support mowing operations and general contract activities as required.
• Work as part of a dedicated team delivering essential maintenance across the region.
