Fulton Hogan is looking for a reliable Chip Runner to join our sealing crew in Greymouth. The role involves working outdoors alongside the chip truck to ensure safe, even chip application and quality standards during sealing operations.

Applicants should have road surfacing or civil construction experience and hold a full Class 1 licence. We value safety, teamwork and a hands-on attitude, with opportunities for ongoing training and development.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist alongside the chip truck during sealing operations, guiding and monitoring chip spread on the road surface.
• Check chip coverage as laid to ensure even, consistent application to required standards.
• Communicate clearly with the truck operator and crew to maintain safe, smooth workflow.
• Support general sealing crew duties including site setup, cleanup and other hands-on tasks.
• Adhere to safety, quality and environmental requirements while working near live traffic.

We're looking for a reliable, safety-conscious individual to join our sealing crew in Greymouth. Working as a Chip Runner, this hands‑on role involves being out on the road alongside the chip truck, helping ensure chip is applied safely, evenly, and to the right standard during sealing operations. It's practical, physical work that plays an important part in delivering high-quality road surfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Work alongside the chip truck during sealing operations, helping guide and monitor chip spread on the road surface.
• Check chip coverage as it is laid and help make sure application is even, consistent, and to the required standard.
• Communicate clearly with the truck operator and crew to keep the job running safely and smoothly.
• Support general sealing crew duties including site setup, clean up, and other hands‑on tasks as needed.
• Follow all safety, quality, and environmental requirements while working around live traffic and active roadwork sites.

We're Looking For Someone With

• Previous experience in road surfacing, chip sealing, or civil construction.
• A full Class 1 licence — this is essential.
• Any additional licences, endorsements, or relevant tickets would be an advantage.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality, and working well as part of a team.
• Reliability and confidence working outdoors in a physical role, including walking alongside moving plant in a controlled work environment.
• A team‑focused attitude, with the ability to communicate well, support others, and work closely with the crew to get the job done.
• A willingness to learn, take on feedback, and build their skills in sealing and surfacing operations.
