Job summary

Mana College is seeking an inspiring Science teacher for a permanent, full-time role with an immediate middle-leadership path as Learning Area Head (LAH) of Science for the 2027 school year to cover parental leave. You will lead the science department for Years 9–13, drive curriculum delivery, and work with whānau, Senior Leadership, and pastoral networks to support student achievement.

Qualifications

• Current New Zealand Teacher Registration.
• Proven experience in collaborative teaching culture.
• Strong commitment to culturally responsive practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
• Stated senior specialist science subject(s) such as physics, chemistry or biology.

Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership and mentorship of the science department.
• Design culturally responsive, evidence-based programmes aligned with NZ Curriculum.
• Oversee assessments, KAMAR record-keeping, and the departmental budget.
• Deliver student-centred science instruction and participate in extra-curricular activities.
