Job summary

Mana College in Wellington is seeking a dedicated Science educator to cover maternity leave for 2027. You will teach Years 9–10 junior science and Years 11–13 senior courses within your specialist subject area, collaborating with whānau, staff, Deans, and SLT to foster a culturally responsive learning environment.

You will join a supportive Science department focused on raising achievement and providing rich learning experiences for rangatahi, with a strong emphasis on Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Science in line with the New Zealand Curriculum.
• Current New Zealand Teacher Registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-based Science programmes reflecting NZ Curriculum and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Model relational, inclusive teaching to foster a safe classroom culture.

Te Kāreti o Mana | Mana College is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and student-centred educator for a full-time Science teaching position covering maternity leave for the 2027 school year.

You will join a supportive and forward-thinking Science department dedicated to raising achievement and providing rich learning experiences for our rangatahi. This role involves teaching junior Science (Years 9–10) and senior courses (Years 11–13) within your specialist subject area(s). You will work closely alongside whānau, teaching colleagues, Deans, and Senior Leadership to foster a culturally responsive and engaging learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Curriculum and learning design: Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-based Science programmes that reflect the New Zealand Curriculum, local community contexts, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership.
• Classroom practice: Model positive, relational teaching pedagogy to foster a safe, inclusive, and collaborative classroom culture.
• Assessment and operations: Maintain accurate academic and pastoral records on KAMAR and oversee valid, consistent assessment practices.
• Schoolwide contribution: Support schoolwide achievement initiatives (including literacy and numeracy) and participate fully in the extra-curricular life of the college.
• Current New Zealand Teacher Registration.
• A proven track record of modelling positive teaching pedagogy within a collaborative learning environment.
• Strong relationship-building skills to engage collaboratively with staff, students, and whānau.
• A strong commitment to culturally responsive practice and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
