Job summary

The New Zealand Ministry of Education seeks a Speech-Language Therapist for fixed-term, full-time work in Dunedin or Oamaru, providing SLT support to North Otago. Starting ASAP with end date in late June 2027, focusing on speech, language and communication development for children and families.

Role requires knowledge of theory and practice in speech-language pathology, ability to translate knowledge into practical guidance, and capacity to coordinate services across multiple agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Therapy or equivalent that meets NZ Speech-language Therapists Association requirements.
  • Specialist knowledge of theory, research, practice related to speech-language, child development and learning/behaviour.
  • Ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical information for families and teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and understand the impact of speech and language difficulties in home, school and community contexts.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers and other specialists to support children’s communication development.
  • Work as part of a trans-disciplinary team to address complex needs of children and families.
