Job summary

Macmahon seeks an experienced Safety Trainer for our New Zealand operations, based in Christchurch. You will work with project leaders to guide risk management, implement HSEQT plans, and lead incident investigations to promote a strong safety culture.

Requirements include underground mining HSEQT experience, NZ Certificates in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 4) and Assessment Practice (Level 4), ICAM Lead Investigation and Training, and proficiency with HSEQT reporting platforms and

Qualifications

• Demonstrated HSEQT experience in Underground mining (required)
• New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 4)
• New Zealand Certificate in Assessment Practice (Level 4)
• ICAM Lead Investigation and Training courses (required)
• Proficient with HSEQT reporting platforms (eg.Evotixor similar)
• Experience with learning management systems (eg. Cloud Assess)
• Strong communication and stakeholder skills
• Unencumbered Class 1 drivers’ licence
• Roster: Monday to Friday | Site travel as required

Responsibilities

• Ensure effective implementation and adherence to the HSEQT management plan
• Develop & review risk assessments
• Provide Subject Matter Expert coaching and guidance as part of the site leadership team
• Facilitate incident investigations and improved outcomes
• Drive ownership & accountability for corrective actions management
• Ensure workforce competency and maintain training compliance through accurate coordination, monitoring, and reporting of training requirements
• Ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System requirements

About the Role

We are looking for experienced Safety Trainers to join our New Zealand business. Based in Christchurch, you will partner closely with operational leaders at a local project, providing Subject Matter Expert guidance on risk, effectively implement HSEQT plans, facilitate compliance requirements, lead incident investigations, and drive accountability for the timely completion of corrective and preventive actions to promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.
