Job summary

Downer is seeking an experienced Pavement Marker / Roadmarking Operator to join our Roadmarking team in the Upper South Island. Based in Christchurch, Nelson, or Blenheim, you’ll operate Type A and Type B equipment on maintenance and new works contracts to keep communities moving safely.

You’ll work with a dedicated crew, conduct pre-start inspections, support planned plant servicing, and maintain safety, quality and environmental standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Full Class 2 Driver Licence.
• Minimum 2 years' roadmarking experience operating Type A and/or Type B equipment.
• Strong knowledge of roadmarking practices, equipment and industry standards.
• A proactive and safety-first mindset.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and remain productive under pressure.
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Flexibility to work across different projects and locations when required.

Responsibilities

• Operate Type A and Type B roadmarking equipment safely and efficiently.
• Deliver maintenance remarking and new roadmarking works to a high standard.
• Carry out pre-start inspections and ensure equipment is well maintained.
• Support the planning and coordination of plant servicing and repairs.
• Work collaboratively with crew members to achieve project and production targets.
• Maintain compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Contribute to a positive team culture focused on safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
