Job summary

Health New Zealand – Wellington Regional Hospital invites a Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Assessment and Planning Unit (SAPU). You will support general surgery patients, work across SAPU and collaborate with ED, GPs and inpatient teams in a fast-paced setting.

The role offers Permanent, Part Time (0.6–0.8 FTE) with rostered shifts, ongoing education, mentorship, and opportunities to develop acute surgical and assessment skills within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Current NZ Nursing Council registration and APC.
• Experience in acute surgical, medical or emergency nursing preferred.
• Ability to work within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for General Surgery SAPU patients.
• Collaborate with Emergency Department, GP and wards to ensure timely assessments.
• Support ongoing education and professional development and evidence-based practice.
