Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Charge Registered Nurse for its ICU at Mease Dunedin Hospital in Dunedin, FL. This full-time role requires leadership in a high-acuity medical/surgical ICU with in-person shifts and weekend coverage every other week.

You will deliver expert nursing care, supervise staff, and coordinate patient flow through ICU. Required are an active RN license in Florida, 2+ years ICU experience, and BLS/ACLS; CCRN or related certifications are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of Florida or eligible for licensure.
• CCRN/CDN/CNN certification or substantial ICU certification planned within 7 months.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or healthcare-related field.

Responsibilities

• Care for ICU patients using established nursing process and clinical standards.
• Delegate patient care activities to health care team members as appropriate.
• Monitor patient vitals, document findings, and communicate changes to the team.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies and initiate critical interventions.
• Coordinate discharge planning to ensure continuity of care after leaving ICU.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

RN Specialty Certification (CCRN/CDN/CNN) within 7 months

Requirements

• RN (Registered Nurse) License
• RN Professional, nationally recognized and applicable to the current primary area of practice - CCRN, CDN or CNN
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing OR BS Healthcare related field OR an RN Professional Nurse Specialty Certification within 7 months of hire/promotion
• 2-years' RN experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

The Charge Registered Nurse – ICU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
• Professional accountability and development
• Acts as a professional role model for other members of the nursing team
• Developing self and team members and sharing organizational information
