Job summary

Debbie Graham & Associates in New Zealand is seeking a Risk and Assurance Analyst to join the Supervision team. You’ll assess clients’ risk management, internal controls and compliance processes, partner with the Client Assurance Manager, undertake monitoring activities and track remediation to ensure risks are well managed.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, Risk Management or a related discipline.
• At least three years’ experience in financial services or a similar environment.
• Experience in risk management, compliance, audit, controls assurance, supervision or a regulatory environment.
• An understanding of governance, operational risk, internal controls and financial services regulation.
• Strong written communication skills, particularly in documenting findings and preparing reports.
• The ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders, including senior management.
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assess client control environments, risk management frameworks and operational processes.
• Participate in client monitoring visits, document findings and identify areas requiring improvement.
• Track remediation plans and monitor the resolution of control weaknesses.
• Support risk-based monitoring activities, prioritising clients and issues according to potential risk and investor impact.
• Prepare clear, accurate assurance reports and contribute to Board and regulatory reporting.
• Assist with industry thematic reviews, client compliance testing and attestation processes.
• Maintain monitoring schedules, action trackers and risk reporting.
• Identify emerging risks, regulatory developments and opportunities to improve assurance processes.
• Build effective relationships with clients, internal stakeholders and the wider Supervision team.
