Job summary

New Zealand Post is seeking a Risk & Assurance Lead to partner with leaders across our Customer Service Delivery unit and strengthen risk, assurance and resilience management. The role is highly visible and influences senior stakeholders to drive meaningful change.

You will drive implementation of the enterprise risk framework, facilitate risk workshops, build an assurance program, monitor risks, enable business continuity, and develop insights to support better decisions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in risk, assurance, audit, or governance.
• Experience in logistics/supply chain or manufacturing is preferred.
• Ability to translate complex concepts into practical actions.

Responsibilities

• Drive the implementation of NZ Post's enterprise risk framework and help leaders identify, assess, monitor and manage risk.

We’re looking for an experienced Risk & Assurance Lead to partner with leaders across our Customer Service Delivery business unit and strengthen how risk, assurance and resilience are managed. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to shape best practice, influence senior stakeholders, and drive meaningful change.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

• Driving the implementation of NZ Post's enterprise risk framework and helping leaders identify, assess, monitor, and manage risk.


• Facilitating risk workshops and providing practical guidance on risk management, controls, and compliance.


• Building and delivering a risk assurance programme and strengthening first-line assurance capability that provides confidence key controls are designed and operating effectively.


• Monitoring Customer Service Delivery risks, supporting leaders to manage residual risk within agreed risk appetite and tolerance, and reporting on risk trends and emerging issues.


• Enabling business continuity, operational resilience, incident management, and recovery readiness activities.


• Developing risk insights, key risk indicators, and assurance reporting to support better business decisions.


• Partnering with Operational Excellence to embed risk management, controls and assurance into CSD's day-to-day management and operational governance practices.

Mōu - About you

You’ll be an experienced risk, assurance, audit, or governance professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing stakeholders, and turning complex issues into practical solutions. You’ll be comfortable operating across both strategy and Hands-on delivery while helping leaders manage risk with confidence.

You’ll bring:

• Proven experience in risk, assurance, audit, or governance, with the ability to translate complex concepts into practical actions that deliver business outcomes.


• An understanding and or experience with operational management ideally from a logistics/supply chain/manufacturing industry.


• Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the confidence to partner effectively with operational leaders and stakeholders across all levels of the business.


• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to identify risks, analyse trends, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.


• Experience developing and embedding risk frameworks, assurance programmes, controls, business continuity, or resilience practices within a complex organisation.


• Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work at pace while managing competing priorities and delivering results.
