Job summary

Hotel Indigo Auckland, home to Bistro Saine, is seeking a Restaurant & Bars Duty Manager to lead shifts, mentor the team, and ensure seamless service across breakfast, lunch and dinner. You’ll work with the leadership team to maintain standards, safety and guest satisfaction in a dynamic hotel setting.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years supervising or leading shifts in restaurant and bar operations, strong communication, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to deliver memorable hospitality

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience supervising or leading shifts in restaurant and bar operations.
  • Strong understanding of food and beverage operations and service flow.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and inspire a team.
  • Knowledge of NZ food handling and RSA (responsible service of alcohol) requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work a rotating roster across our venues, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Full working rights within New Zealand with no restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee front-of-house shift logistics and team coordination.
  • Lead shifts and motivate staff to deliver seamless service.
  • Support new starters and maintain clear communication between front of house and back of house.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness and compliance of service areas.
  • Contribute to achieving guest satisfaction and sales targets.
  • Lead by example and inspire the team in a fast-paced environment.

We’re looking for a Restaurant & Bars Duty Manager to join our Restaurant & Bars team.

As a Restaurant & Bar Duty Manager, you’ll lead shifts and work closely with the Restaurant & Bar leadership team and step in to deliver seamless service, motivate and guide the team, and ensure every guest leaves with a story worth sharing.

About the role:

Each day is a blend of energy and leadership - overseeing front of house shift logistics, rallying the team, supporting new starters, and keeping communication flowing between front of house and back of house to ensure seamless service. As a hotel operation, you'll enjoy a variety of shifts across breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, offering flexibility and exposure to different parts of the guest journey. You'll set the tone for warm, memorable guest experiences, keep an eye on responsible service of alcohol and step in confidently when challenges arise. With a focus on safety and cleanliness, you'll coordinate service and keep the venue looking it's best whilst championing sales and prepare for upcoming events. It's a fast-paced role where you'll be leading from the front and inspiring the team.

What we need from you:

2+ years experience supervising or leading shifts in restaurant and bar operations

Strong understanding of food and beverage operations and service flow

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for creating memorable guest experiences

Proven ability to lead, motivate and inspire a team

Knowledge of NZ food handling and RSA (responsible service of alcohol) requirements

Strong written and verbal communication

Ability to work a rotating roster across our venues, including weekends and public holidays

Full working rights within New Zealand with no restrictions

Role specifics:

Full time, permanent role based onsite in Auckland CBD

Works a variable roster, including weekends and public holidays across both AM and PM shifts
