Job summary

Green by Nature is seeking a Response Operator to join our facilities maintenance team in New Zealand. You will respond to daily callouts, perform outdoor maintenance, repairs and practical tasks across parks and council assets.

The role involves some weekend work, interpreting plans, and liaising with clients to ensure quality outcomes. You should bring hands-on experience in outdoor settings, with building/plumbing/landscaping skills, plus the ability to drive a manual, work independently, and

Qualifications

• Experience in outdoors roles with building, plumbing or related industries.
• Ability to interpret building plans and plan landscaping projects.
• Experience with irrigation and drainage work; able to operate related machinery.

Responsibilities

• Attend daily callouts to repair council assets and maintain public spaces.
• Set up bollards, troubleshoot blockages and water pressure issues.
• Install park signage and assist with minor building works or landscaping.
• May perform weekend work to cover urgent call outs.
• Work with clients to plan and communicate progress on projects.

As part of our commitment to upkeeping the Manawatu District, we are looking for a Response Operator to join our team!

What does a Response Operator do you ask?

Our Response Operators are like jack-of-all-trades maintenance superstars. They've got the skills and know-how to handle any job that comes their way, drawing from their experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs and practical handy work. As a Response Operator, you'll attend daily callouts to repair council assets, from setting up bollards to troubleshooting blockages and water pressure issues on irrigation and public bathrooms/toilets, or installing park signs.

Additionally, you may be involved in minor building works, landscaping, and other facilities maintenance. Some weekend work may be required to attend urgent call outs.

Skills And Experience

• You’ll be using your practical skills which you may have gained from working in an outdoors role, involved in building, plumbing or related industries
• Be able to interpret building plans, hard and soft landscaping skills, troubleshooting plumbing and irrigation support, as well as machinery operations
• A current, full class 1 driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle is essential
• Have experience and confidence to manage projects, including planning of work and ongoing communication with our clients
• You’ll need to be self-motivated with a great work ethic and be able to work alone at times - for the big jobs, you’ve got the support of our team to help out!
• Physically fit and be able to manage some heavy lifting at times
• A desire to complete all jobs to a high standard of work - there’s a lot of people depending on us to keep things in working order across the region!
