Job summary

Green by Nature in Whangārei is seeking a Response Operator to join our hands-on maintenance team. You’ll attend daily callouts to repair assets, carry out minor building works, landscaping and general facilities maintenance, including fixing irrigation and park assets.

This role suits someone practical who can work alone at times, with heavy lifting and weekend callouts possible. A full class 1 driver’s licence and comfort with manual vehicles are essential, as is a commitment to high-quality

Qualifications

• Experience outdoors with building, plumbing or related trades.
• Ability to read plans, landscape skills, troubleshoot plumbing/irrigation, operate machinery.
• Valid full class 1 driver’s licence, ability to drive a manual vehicle.
• Experience and confidence to manage projects and communicate with clients.
• Capable of working alone and handling heavy lifting when required.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to high standards of finish.

Responsibilities

• Attend daily callouts to repair council assets and amenities.
• Perform building works, landscaping and general facilities maintenance.
• Assist with irrigation and water system troubleshooting.
• Install or repair park signs and related assets.
• Occasional weekend work for urgent call outs.

As part of our commitment to upkeeping the Whangarei region, we are looking for aResponse Operator to join our team!

What does a Response Operator do you ask?

Our Response Operators are like jack-of-all-trades maintenance superstars. They've got the skills and know-how to handle any job that comes their way, drawing from their experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs and practical handy work.

As a Response Operator, you'll attend daily callouts to repair council assets, from setting up bollards to troubleshooting blockages and water pressure issues on irrigation and public bathrooms/toilets or installing park signs.

Additionally, you may be involved in minor building works, landscaping, and other facilities maintenance. Some weekend work may be required to attend urgent call outs.

Skills and Experience

• You’ll be using your practical skills which you may have gained from working in an outdoors role, involved in building, plumbing or related industries
• Be able to interpret building plans, hard and soft landscaping skills, troubleshooting plumbing and irrigation support, as well as machinery operations
• A current, full class 1 driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle is essential
• Have experience and confidence to manage projects, including planning of work and ongoing communication with our clients
• You’ll need to be self-motivated with a great work ethic and be able to work alone at times - for the big jobs, you’ve got the support of our team to help out!
• Physically fit and be able to manage some heavy lifting at times
• A desire to complete all jobs to a high standard of work - there’s a lot of people depending on us to keep things in working order across the region!
