Job summary

DEFEND in Auckland is seeking a Reporting and Analytics Lead to drive data-driven decision making. You will design, develop, and continually improve reporting, semantic models and insights across the business, delivering trusted financial and operational dashboards.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to forecast, plan and track performance, shaping our data future with scalable analytics and value-driven reports.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing and managing reporting, BI or analytics solutions.
• Strong working knowledge of Power BI, Dataflows Gen2 and semantic models.
• Experience building financial, operational or commercial reporting and dashboards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate data into insights.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication, able to explain technical concepts.
• Understanding of data governance, validation and reporting controls.

• Lead DEFEND's Reporting and Analytics capability across design, development and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do:

• Lead DEFEND's Reporting and Analytics capability: you'll be driving and implementing the design, development and continuous improvement of reporting, semantic models and analytical insights across the business.
• Deliver trusted insights: Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models and analytical solutions that provide leaders with meaningful financial and operational insights.
• Drive business performance through analytics: Deliver insights that support forecasting, planning, performance management and strategic decision making across the organisation.
• Shape our data future: Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to develop reports, insights and analytics that create business value and drive strategic decision making.

Requirements

The skills & experience you will bring to DEFEND

• Proven experience developing and managing reporting, business intelligence or analytics solutions.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Power BI, Dataflows Gen2 and semantic models.
• Experience building financial, operational or commercial reporting and dashboard solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Strong understanding of data governance, validation, documentation and reporting controls.
• Experience with Power Query, DAX, SQL and modern data modelling practices.
• A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for simplifying complex problems through data.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and operate successfully in a dynamic, growth-focused environment.
• Experience in finance, commercial reporting or technology-driven organisations will be highly regarded.
