Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Integration Specialist to plan, design and implement strategies for integrating rooftop solar, storage and EVs into the grid. This fully remote role supports South Africa- focused DER projects and requires strong power systems knowledge and regulatory awareness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of experience in power systems engineering with DERs, microgrids or renewable integration.
• Understanding of power electronics, grid interconnection standards, and DER protection principles.
• Familiarity with smart grid technologies and regulatory frameworks for DERs.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and quantitative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine methodologies for DER integration into distribution and transmission networks.
• Analyze impacts of DER penetration on grid stability and power quality.
• Collaborate with grid operators, utilities and developers to establish interconnection best practices.
• Design and assess control strategies and communication protocols for managing distributed resources.
• Stay informed on DER technologies, market trends and regulatory policies.
• Conduct feasibility studies and pilot projects for new DER concepts.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for teams and stakeholders.
