Placements24 is seeking a Remote Chemical Research & Development Engineer to push the boundaries of sustainable chemical science from a home office. You will translate theory into scalable lab-to-pilot processes, collaborating with a globally distributed team and delivering robust formulations and process insights.

The role emphasizes creativity, analytical rigor, and strong remote communication. A PhD or Master's in chemistry or chemical engineering and 8+ years of R&D experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with strong R&D focus.
• 8+ years in chemical R&D, preferably biotech or sustainable chemicals.
• Experience with process development, optimization, and scale-up of novel chemical syntheses.
• Strong remote collaboration and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research into new chemical processes and synthesis routes, evaluating feasibility and potential.
• Develop and optimize chemical formulations and reaction conditions to achieve desired product properties and yields.
• Design and execute experiments, documenting all findings and results.
• Lead the scale-up of laboratory processes to pilot plant scale, identifying and resolving scale-up challenges.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, chemists, and engineers in a remote setting.
• Utilize advanced analytical techniques and instrumentation for characterization and process monitoring.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, research proposals, and patent disclosures.
• Ensure all R&D activities comply with safety, environmental, and intellectual property guidelines.
• Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature, industry trends, and technological advancements in chemical R&D.
