Job summary

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is seeking a seasoned Regulatory Practice professional to translate regulatory expectations into practical, user-friendly guidance and tools. You will help shape and sustain a robust practice framework, building capability across the regulatory system.

You’ll collaborate with regulatory leaders, practitioners and external partners to embed best practice and continuous improvement, influencing system-wide outcomes for New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Experience in frontline regulatory delivery roles.
• Ability to translate complex legal/policy information into accessible guidance.
• Strong documentation and process design skills with attention to detail.
• Experience collaborating across technical, operational and business teams.
• Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
• Understanding Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti in public sector preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support development and continuous improvement of NZTA's regulatory practice framework.
• Translate regulatory expectations into quality frameworks, standards and tools.
• Develop and sustain a practice community and coaching network.
• Build relationships across regulatory system and external partners.
