About the General Surgery Department

This is a new position, there will be one ENT registrar providing registrar-level clinical services within Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery (ORL), under the supervision of ORL SMOs, with high-quality, timely and equitable patient care as the primary focus.

  • There is no routine after-hours or weekend roster attached to this position. The primary purpose of the role is daytime ORL service delivery, including inpatient care, outpatient clinics, theatre, minor procedures and in-hours acute ORL cover.
  • Good support and supervision is provided to our registrars to enhance both their operative and non-operative skills. The department has a strong reputation for supporting our registrars to get onto training.
  • This is a department, which will support you throughout your surgical journey.

  • Lakes is a geothermal wonderland and is also home to several scenic lakes, including Lake Taupō, the largest lake in New Zealand.
  • Rotorua and Taupō are the go-to places for hiking, mountain biking, and water sports; you can also dive into traditional experiences and learn more about Māori culture in the region.

About you

You will have:

  • MCNZ registration and or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
  • A minimum of two years' post qualification experience, and a keen interest in providing acute and general medical care to our community.
