Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Christchurch's Wigram village seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join our care team, delivering resident-directed aged care and supporting a high quality of life for residents over the long term.

You will lead nursing care on shifts, develop care plans, collaborate with families, and guide care assistants, while maintaining calm, compassionate communication across a diverse resident community.

Qualifications

• NZ Registration and current Practising Certificate.
• Genuine interest in working with older people.
• Ability to lead, stay calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient.
• Good communication and rapport with residents, families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse at our Wigram village, you will be part of a team that provides quality aged care and creates the best most enjoyable lifestyle to our care centre residents. Our residents are often here for many years, and our approach to care is resident-directed. The ultimate focus is their quality of life.

Typical duties include:

• Managing residents' everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care
• Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments
• Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions
• Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress in partnership with the resident and their family to enhance their daily lives.
• Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift
• Building trusted relationships with residents and their families

This is a permanent part-time position working Thursday and Friday, 6:45am to 3:00pm. Additional availability to provide leave cover for night shifts would be highly regarded.

Qualifications

As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will be seeking a rewarding role and feel motivated by enhancing residents' lives.

You'll bring with you:

• A NZ Registration and a current Practicing Certificate
• A genuine interest in working with older people and an understanding of clinical services as they are delivered in a retirement village
• Demonstrated ability to take the lead, remain calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient
• Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people, from residents, families and your colleagues
