Job summary

Summerset is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for our Whangarei village. You will be part of a team delivering high-quality aged care and preserving residents' quality of life.

The role involves managing daily clinical needs, creating care plans, and guiding caregivers on shifts to ensure compassionate, resident-directed care. We value leadership, calmness under pressure, and strong communication with residents, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• NZ Registration and a current Practicing Certificate.
• Genuine interest in working with older people and retirement village care.
• Capability to lead, stay calm under pressure, and be emotionally resilient.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with residents, families and colleagues.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse at our Whangarei village, you will be part of a team that provides quality aged care and creates the best most enjoyable lifestyle to our care centre residents. Our residents are often here for many years, and our approach to care is resident-directed. The ultimate focus is their quality of life.

Typical duties include:

• Managing residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care
• Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments
• Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions
• Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress in partnership with the resident and their family to enhance their daily lives.
• Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift
• Building trusted relationships with residents and their families

This is a permanent role working a roster of:Four days on, two days off - rotating through AM, PM and night shifts (Minimum 60 and maximum 80 hours per fortnight).

Qualifications

As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will be seeking a rewarding role and feel motivated by enhancing residents’ lives.

• A NZ Registration and a current Practicing Certificate
• A genuine interest in working with older people and an understanding of clinical services as they are delivered in a retirement village
• Demonstrated ability to take the lead, remain calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient
