Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking registered nurses to join Kōwhai Ward (surgical) at Wellington Regional Hospital. 0.6 FTE (64 hours per fortnight) or 0.7 FTE (56 hours per fortnight) with rosters including nights, weekends, and weekdays.

Experience in paediatric nursing is essential with the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team. Must hold an Annual Practising Certificate and meet registration requirements; current work visa or right to work in NZ is

About the Role

We are seeking experienced and motivated Registered Nurses to join Kōwhai Ward (surgical). This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your paediatric nursing expertise while delivering high-quality, family-centred care to children of all ages. The successful candidate will have experience working with paediatric patients, the ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team, and strong organisational skills to manage a dynamic workload. The salary is NZNO/HNZ MECA RN Step 2-7 or $83,725 - 109,407 (pro rata)

0.6 FTE (64 hours per fortnight) & 0.7 FTE (56 hours per fortnight). Potential to negotiate FTE.

All roles involve 8-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Child Health Service for the Wellington Region and Central New Zealand is a tertiary service delivering specialised medical and surgical care for children up to 16 years of age. Services include inpatient, outpatient, day patient, and domiciliary care. Within Te Wao Nui, the Piko and Kōwhai wards provide dedicated inpatient care for hospitalised children.

Kōwhai Ward (surgical) has 17 inpatient beds and a 12-bed Children's Day Stay (CDS), which caters for children requiring short-term care post day procedures and surgery. The service also incorporates a weekday area that provides support for the Children's Cancer Service.

About you

• Demonstrated clinical knowledge and competence in paediatric nursing; surgical experience is desirable
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
