Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Levin is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our casual pool, delivering high-quality aged care and enhancing residents’ quality of life. You will work within a resident-directed care approach, supporting residents and families across shifts.

The role focuses on clinical to end-of-life care, care planning, and leading on duty with supportive teamwork from caregivers. Weekend shifts attract penalties; uniform is provided.

Qualifications

• NZ Registration and Practising Certificate required.
• Genuine interest in working with older people.
• Ability to lead, stay calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient.
• Good communication and rapport-building with residents, families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care.
• Create and follow long-term care plans and clinical assessments.
• Take charge of the care centre on shifts and make clinical decisions.
• Deliver planned nursing care and evaluate progress with residents and their families.
• Provide guidance to caregivers on shift.
• Build trusted relationships with residents and their families.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in our casual pool at Summerset by the Ranges village, our Levin village, you will be part of a team of casuals that provides quality aged care and creates the best most enjoyable lifestyle to our care centre residents. Our residents are often here for many years, and our approach to care is resident-directed. The ultimate focus is their quality of life.

Typical Duties Include

• Managing residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care
• Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments
• Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions
• Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress in partnership with the resident and their family to enhance their daily lives.
• Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift
• Building trusted relationships with residents and their families

You'll Bring With You

• A NZ Registration and a current Practicing Certificate
• A genuine interest in working with older people and an understanding of clinical services as they are delivered in a retirement village
• Demonstrated ability to take the lead, remain calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient
• Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people, from residents, families and your colleagues
