Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages – Levin and Wanganui sites are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our casual pool. You will deliver quality aged care, lead shifts when needed, and support residents to live their best life.

You will hold NZ Registration and a current Practising Certificate, demonstrate genuine interest in older people, stay calm under pressure, and communicate clearly with residents, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • NZ Registration and a current Practising Certificate.
  • Genuine interest in working with older people and understanding of clinical services in a retirement village.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, stay calm under pressure and be emotionally resilient.
  • Good communication skills and ability to build rapport with residents, families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage residents’ daily needs from clinical to end-of-life care.
  • Create and follow long-term care plans and clinical assessments.
  • Take charge of the care centre on shifts and make clinical decisions.
  • Deliver planned nursing care and evaluate progress with residents and families.
  • Provide guidance and direction to caregivers on shift.
  • Build trusted relationships with residents and families.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in our casual pool at Summerset by the Ranges village, our Levin village, you will be part of a team of casuals that provides quality aged care and creates the best most enjoyable lifestyle to our care centre residents. Our residents are often here for many years, and our approach to care is resident-directed. The ultimate focus is their quality of life.

Typical duties include:

  • Managing residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care
  • Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments
  • Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions
  • Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress in partnership with the resident and their family to enhance their daily lives.
  • Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift
  • Building trusted relationships with residents and their families

This is a casual role, working on an 'as and when required' basis.

Qualifications

As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will be seeking a rewarding role and feel motivated by enhancing residents’ lives.

You’ll bring with you:

  • A NZ Registration and a current Practicing Certificate
  • A genuine interest in working with older people and an understanding of clinical services as they are delivered in a retirement village
