Job summary

Summerset is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the casual pool at Casebrook village in Canterbury. You will support residents with comprehensive nursing care and lead shifts when required, ensuring high-quality, resident-directed care.

This role emphasizes building trust with residents and families while maintaining excellent clinical standards. Applicants must hold NZ RN registration and a current Practising Certificate, with a genuine interest in elder care.

Qualifications

• NZ Registration and a current Practising Certificate are required.
• Experience caring for older people in retirement villages is preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership, calmness under pressure and emotional resilience.
• Strong communication to build rapport with residents, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage residents' daily clinical and end-of-life needs.
• Develop and follow long-term care plans and clinical assessments.
• Take charge on shifts and make appropriate clinical decisions.
• Deliver planned nursing care and evaluate progress with residents and families.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in our casual pool at our Casebrook village, you will be part of a team of casuals that provides quality aged care and creates the best most enjoyable lifestyle to our care centre residents. Our residents are often here for many years, and our approach to care is resident-directed. The ultimate focus is their quality of life.

Typical duties include:

• Managing residents’ everyday needs, from clinical to end-of-life care
• Creating and following long term care plans as well as clinical assessments
• Taking charge of the care centre on certain shifts and making appropriate clinical decisions
• Delivering planned nursing care and evaluate progress in partnership with the resident and their family to enhance their daily lives.
• Providing guidance and direction to the caregivers on shift
• Building trusted relationships with residents and their families

As a casual you will need to be available often at short notice for a variety of shifts.

Qualifications

As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will be seeking a rewarding role and feel motivated by enhancing residents’ lives.
