Job summary

Plunket Nurses assess the growth and development of tamariki and are trusted clinical advisors who walk alongside whānau. You will meet with whānau across home visits and in clinics, fostering trusting relationships to adopt a holistic approach and culturally appropriate care.

Working with a motivated team, you will deliver engaging care where whānau have a safe space to share parenting challenges. This is a permanent 0.8FTE Registered Nurse role across the Hutt Valley, requiring 4 days

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse with eligible NZ Practising Certificate.
• Postgraduate qualification in Well Child Tamariki Ora is desired.
• Hold a full clean NZ Driver's Licence (Class 1).
• Be prepared to undergo a Ministry of Justice Check.
• Commitment to 12-month Post Graduate Certificate in Well Child Tamariki ora (cost covered).

Responsibilities

• Assess growth and development of tamariki.
• Conduct home visits and clinic appointments with whānau.
• Provide holistic, culturally safe care and support to families.

If you want to use your work day to truly make a difference in your community and help every Plunket baby to have the best start to life, join us as a permanent 0.8FTE Registered Nurse working across the Hutt Valley - working 4 days must include Wednesday and Friday along with the possibility of 1 Saturday per month

The salary band for this role is between $66,222 ($33.51 per hour) - $94,842 ($48 per hour) depending on experience.

You will meet with whānau across (both home visits and in clinics) and foster trusting relationships to adopt a holistic approach and culturally appropriate care. Working alongside a highly motivated and experienced team you'll be committed to delivering engaging care where whānau have a safe space to share parenting challenges and celebrate successes.

Working in the community in a cost-of-living crisis means you will meet whānau who are facing significant challenges. Our clinical responsibilities co-exist with the need to deliver social support to ensure pēpi are being raised in safe and healthy homes. We offer 6 week orientation with ongoing preceptor support to help you find your feet.

Community Nursing requires a particular set of skills, you may start the day with 5 whānau booked in for visits, one might need to cancel, another might be late, and the last appointment might present significant concerns and take longer than anticipated. So, you will need to be resourceful, resilient and comfortable making decisions to ensure we maintain a high quality experience and minimise risks for our clients.

We are confident we can give you great support with our experienced team - so we are open to both new graduates and experienced nurses.

It is vital that you enjoy working with pēpi, however the majority of your interactions will be with caregivers. In order to deliver the right support, you'll need to have exceptional active listening skills, be able to ask questions tactfully. Working with whānau from all walks of life will require you to build trust and communicate effectively with different people.

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Be a Registered Nurse
• Hold or be able to obtain an Annual Practicing Certificate
• Undergo a Ministry of Justice Check
• Hold a full clean NZ Drivers Licence
• Be committed to completing 12 month Post Graduate Certificate in Well Child Tamariki ora (we would cover the cost for this)
