Job summary

Royal New Zealand Plunket Trust – Waikato District, North Island. We’re recruiting a Registered Nurse to join our Waikato team in Hamilton, full-time 1.0 FTE including Saturdays, with occasional twilight clinics.

You’ll deliver Well Child Tamariki Ora assessments and support pēpi, tamariki and whānau across clinics, homes and communities. You’ll work autonomously within a supportive multidisciplinary team, applying culturally responsive care and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

Qualifications

  • As a Plunket Nurse you’ll provide Well Child Tamariki Ora assessments and support pēpi, tamariki and whānau.
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of NZ and a current Annual Practising Certificate is required.
  • A full NZ driver licence and ability to work across clinics and community settings are needed.
  • A commitment to culturally safe practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Well Child Tamariki Ora assessments across clinics, community settings and homes.
  • Develop care pathways and coordinate referrals to community services.

We’re lucky to have the opportunity to connect with the majority of tamariki across Aotearoa during their first five years. Join us as a Registered Nurseand help ensure every Plunket pēpi has the best possible start in life.

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available within our Waikato team. This position is based inHamilton and works 1.0 FTE including Saturdays. There may also be occasional twilight clinics.

TeWhiwhingamahi | The opportunity

As a Plunket Nurse, you’ll provide comprehensive Well Child Tamariki Ora assessments and support the health and wellbeing of pēpi, tamariki and their whānau. Working across clinics, community settings and whānau homes, you’ll develop trusted relationships and support whānau to achieve their goals.

You’ll take a holistic and culturally responsive approach to care, drawing on your clinical knowledge to assess the health, development and wider needs of tamariki and their whānau. This may include providing evidence-based guidance, developing care pathways, coordinating referrals and connecting whānau with relevant community services.

You’ll work both autonomously and alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team, building strong relationships with colleagues, health professionals, local services and community organisations.

You’ll be a compassionate and confident Registered Nurse who is passionate about improving health outcomes for tamariki and whānau. You’ll bring strong assessment and communication skills, sound clinical judgement and the ability to build respectful, trusting relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds.

You will also have:

  • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate
  • A full New Zealand driver licence
  • Confidence working independently within the community
  • An understanding of population and community health, including the inequities experienced by Māori and Pacific communities
  • A commitment to culturally safe practice and upholding TeTiriti o Waitangi
  • A relevant child health qualification, or a willingness to complete postgraduate study
  • Vaccinator authorisation, or a willingness to undertake the required training
