Job summary

Royal New Zealand Plunket Trust in Dunedin invites motivated Registered Nurses to join our Otago team. These permanent roles cover both part-time and full-time hours across the Dunedin region, focusing on assessing tamariki growth and providing trusted clinical guidance in the community.

Applicants must be a registered nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate, hold a full NZ driver’s licence, and commit to completing a 12‑month Post Graduate Certificate in Well Child Tamariki Ora

Qualifications

• Be a Registered Nurse and hold an Annual Practising Certificate.
• Hold a full clean NZ Driver's Licence.
• Commitment to completing 12-month Post Graduate Certificate in Well Child Tamariki Ora (funded).
• Vaccinator certification is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assess growth and development of tamariki and provide trusted clinical advice.
• Support whānau through home visits and community-based care.
• Work across Dunedin region with flexible hours (part-time or full-time).
• Act as a clinical advisor to whānau and coordinate health promotion.

Yourrole is to assessthegrowth and development of tamariki and be a trustedclinicaladvisor, supporting whānautochoosehowthey’dlike to raise their Tamariki.You’ll truly never know the difference you’ll make, providing that one piece of health promotion advice in a compelling way or following your gut and making a referral could make the difference of a lifetime.

We love what we do,but our roles are different to the standard nursing role you might otherwise do at a hospital or GPclinic. Hereare some things to know about our mahi:

Flexibility: The flexibility weprovideourkaimahi(employees) is a breath of fresh air for many who come from a hospitalor clinicenvironment-no more weekends or nights, no putting in leave requests months in advance and hoping for the best. In return, a degree of flexibility isrequired– holding clinics & conducting home visits means it is not necessarily always a 9-5 Mon-Fri, butit’sprobably theclosestyou’llfind!

Working autonomously:Being able to make decisions and work on your own is something that many of ourNurses highlightas abonus forworking with us. The way we work is focused on client interactions and fostering meaningful connections and individualised care. It is different from a hospital or GP clinicenvironment, with a focus on supporting people in the community and in their own homes. It means that for the most part, you work on your own; butthe team are readily available forsupport,and you will have a base clinic to connect to.It is a different experience, but if you’re up for a change, it is extremely rewarding!

Pay rates for our Registered Nurses are between $66,222 ($33.51 per hour) and$94,842 ($48.00 per hour) depending on experience

The ability to connect with whānau:Helping new parents and their support networks find their groove starts with gaining trust. Being invited (andmore importantlyinvited back) into homes is our greatest honour. Your ability to build relationships, listen and be led by your clients willdetermineyour success in this role. We work with whānau from allwalks of life, and beingprovidinga safe space where whānau can speak freely is crucial to the role.

A resilient nature:Not all whānau have a smooth ride or have the same starting point. Your training and life experience will have prepared you to work with whānau who may be experiencing difficulties including domestic violence, maternal and other mental healthchallengesandhigh levelsof deprivation. Facing these challenges head on is key to being able to best support and meet our goals.

Have a love for working with tamariki!Youmay be the favourite aunty/uncle or have a tribe of your own, but your joy and passionforworking with whānau and wanting to make a lasting difference will beevidentin every interaction.The uniqueness of the whānau we connect with is what makes our role interesting. You will be flexible in your approach, but always with a listening ear,manaakitanga,ngākau, and the ability to provide culturally safe care.

To be successful in this role, youwill:

• Be a Registered Nurse
  
• Hold or be able to obtain an Annual Practicing Certificate
  
• Hold a full clean NZ Drivers Licence
  
• Be committed to completing12-monthPost Graduate Certificate in Well Child Tamariki ora (we willcover the costfor this).
  
• While current vaccinator certification would be an advantage, it is not essential. We warmly welcome applications from candidates who are interested in developing this skill and are willing to complete vaccinator training.
• A Monday - Friday role, with some flexibility to work aroundyou
