Job summary

Redcliffs Medical Centre in Christchurch, South Island, is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our primary care team on a part-time basis (26 hours per week, Tue/Wed/Fri).

You will provide comprehensive nursing care across acute and chronic conditions, immunisations, wound care, triage, and health promotion, working with a supportive multidisciplinary team and contributing to equitable health outcomes in our community.

Qualifications

• NZ Registered Nurse with APC and current practising certificate.
• Strong clinical judgement and patient-focused care.
• Experience in primary care or general practice preferred.

Are you a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse looking to make a genuine difference in primary care?

Redcliffs Medical Centre is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our supportive and collaborative team. This is a varied role within a busy, community-focused general practice where you'll provide high-quality clinical care while contributing to quality improvement, preventative health initiatives, and equitable health outcomes for our patients.

You’ll work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team in a modern, purpose-built practice, caring for patients across all stages of life. Our nurses are integral to the delivery of both acute and long‑term care and play a key role in improving access, patient experience, and health equity within our community.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working autonomously, values teamwork, and is passionate about continuous improvement and delivering person‑centred care.

About the Role

You will play a key role in providing comprehensive nursing care, including:

• Acute patient assessment and triage
• Telephone assessment and clinical advice within RN scope
• Immunisations and other preventative health programmes
• Delivering care under approved Standing Orders, in accordance with practice policies and clinical governance requirements
• Cervical screening (or willingness to train)
• Wound care, dressings and suture removal
• Venepuncture, ECGs and clinical observations
• Chronic disease management, including diabetes and cardiovascular care
• Supporting long‑term condition management and care planning
• Assisting with minor surgery and other clinical procedures
• Health education and promotion
• New patient assessments and health screening
• Care coordination, recalls and follow‑up management
• Reviewing laboratory and diagnostic results within scope
• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and patient records
• Infection prevention and clinical quality activities
• Supporting clinical audits and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects
• Mentoring students, Healthcare Assistants and other team members where appropriate

About You

You are:

• A New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current APC

Desirable

• Experience working in general practice or primary care
• Authorised Vaccinator
• Cervical Screening Smear Taker
• Experience in chronic disease management
• Knowledge of HealthPathways and primary care models of care
• Experience using Indici Practice Management System
• Current CPR certification
