Job summary

DLA Architects Wellington is seeking a registered architect to join the team in Wellington, with a clear path toward future branch leadership. The role combines senior client-facing responsibilities with hands-on design and documentation in a collaborative studio.

Based in New Zealand with NZ registration, you will lead projects, mentor colleagues, and help grow the Wellington office while maintaining high design quality and strict attention to detail across documentation and on-site delivery.

Qualifications

• NZ registration or ability to obtain it in NZ within the probation period.
• BArch/MArch or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of NZ construction regulations.
• Proficient in Revit and Forma (Autodesk Construction Cloud).
• High-quality portfolio demonstrating design and documentation.
• Accurate, detail-focused and able to communicate clearly.
• Proven ability to lead projects and guide teams.
• Comfort with client-facing environments and on-site coordination.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach.

We are seeking a New Zealand Registered Architect based in Wellington, with at least three years’ post-registration experience, who is keen to broaden their skills and build clear, long-term career prospects within an established and supportive practice.

This opportunity would suit a talented, driven individual ready to move into a more senior, client-facing role, with a clear pathway towards potential future branch and company leadership.

Our projects are as varied as our people. You will work in a collaborative environment, with ongoing support from our four other studios across New Zealand.

About the role

This position goes beyond project delivery. You will be expected to:

• Lead projects and serve as a key point of contact for clients
• Represent the practice with confidence in meetings and on site
• Produce high-quality design and documentation in line with DLA standards
• Help grow the profile and presence of the Wellington office
• Provide support and guidance to other team members
• Develop the capability to potentially progress into a future Branch Manager position and a company leadership position

What we are looking for

We are looking for a talented individual who offers:

• NZ Registration (or an equivalent overseas qualification while working towards NZ registration)
• A BArch, MArch or equivalent qualification
• In-depth knowledge of the NZ construction industry and its regulations
• A thorough working knowledge of Revit and Forma (Autodesk Construction Cloud)
• Strong design capability, supported by a high-quality portfolio
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation
